Earthquake damage. Row of trees along the Jixiang Road offset by metres by the earthquake that struck Tangshan, China, on 28th July 1976. It measured on the Richter scale and killed over 240,000 people, making it the deadliest earthquake of the twentieth century. Due to its scientific significance, the site is now protected by an iron fence built by the Hebei Provincial Seismological Bureau.
