A carved relief stone with armour from a Roman tomb on the shelf of the impressive Lapidary Wall at Narbo Via Roman History Museum in Narbonne.


The city of Narbonne in the Occitania region of Southern France has a rich Roman heritage. Narbonne was founded as a Roman settlement in the 2nd century and was the capital of the province Gallia Narbonensis of the Roman Empire. - Narbo Via, the new museum of Roman history in Narbonne designed by Sir Norman Foster opened in 2021 and houses finds from the whole region. A main attraction of its exhibition is the moving Lapidary Wall with carved stones from Roman tombs constantly moved in a high-bay racking apparatus.
