This terminal is to serve the Pennsylvania Rail-road, which approaches from the west under theHudson River, and the Lone Island Railroad, whichapproaches from the east under the East River. The preparation of this site included the demoli-tion of several hundred buildings. It practically meantthe dispersion of a community whose population wouldbe the equivalent of some of our smaller cities.
