There is reason to suppose that impregnation of theeggs of both Sharks and Rays takes place in the ovarium or thecontiguous part of the oviduct, for they become enveloped in thedense albuminous secretion of the nidamental glands after havino-passed that part, which covering would prevent the subsequentinfluence of the spermatozoa. § 115.
