Providing wood forthis fireplace furnished the big boys exercise. The chimney was made ofsticks and clay. The light came through the greased paper, fastened over awide space left between logs on one side. The door swung on wooden hingesand was fastened bj a large wooden bar. The furniture of the room was in keeping with the building. Therewere no blackboards, globes, maps, charts, unabridged dictionaries, supple-mental reader-.
