Much enthusiasm was aroused in the cam-paign for funds, and the erection and furnish-ing of the new hospital became a communityaffair in which all classes participated. TheAmerican Car and Foundry Company gavelarge sums, workmen gave a days wages tothe fund, and the Odd Fellows, Elks, P. O. A., Grinders Club, Salem Grange, FrancesWillard liible Class of the Methodist Church,and a number of other organizations, eachfurnished a room in the hospital, at an averagecost of $150.
