New body compositions were invented at Worcester at varioustimes, and the changes in the paste, produced by the introductionof soapstone, bone dust, and china clays, were so gradual that it isimpossible to decide just when the manufacture of one ended andthe next one began. At least three distinct bodies were used,first the frit, second the soapstone, and finally the bone body, whenbone ashes and Cornish clays were introduced and the ware took onthe character of the natural soft paste porcelain of the other Englishfactories.
