Higen-bothams Three Weeks in Europe (Herbert S. Stone).This little volume, which is illustrated from snap-shotstaken by the author, is built up on a series of notes; infact, the authors diary. It opens with an itinerarywhich shows what can be done in a six weeks vacation,nineteen days of which were spent on the ocean. Theauthor saw a great deal, and evidently appreciated pictures are Illustration (reduced) from The Romance of ModernExploration. A book that may be placed without apology in everyboys library, and many a young girl might welcome ittoo, is the Romance of Modern Exploration (Lippin-cott), of which the sub-title, with descriptions ofcurious customs, thrilling adventures, and interestingdiscoveries of explorers in all parts of the world, ismore truthful than many sub-titles. It is by ArchibaldWilliams. It has no less than twenty-six chapters, andalmost as many illustrations. NEW VOLUMES OF SHAKESPEARIANA. IT is a very unusual book season which does not countamong its literary contributions at least half-a-dozen volumes of Shakespeariana. Among the texts ofthe present season are Loves Labours Lost and Mac-beth, in the Variorum Shakespeare, edited by Dr. Hor-ace Furness. This edition is issued by the Lippincotts,and each volume has at least one illustration from anold print, generally reproduced from Rowes edition of1709
