Guy de Chauliac (1300-1368), French physician. De Chauliac was one of the foremost physicians of the Middle Ages. He was the physician to three Popes and survived an infection with the Black Death in the mid-14th century. He spent most of his life in the French town Avignon. This portrait is from the 17th century.
