The Summer school of the University of Georgia was authorizedby the General Assembly in 1903, and the trustees of the Universitycreated a board of directors representing different public interestsfor the general management of the school. The State Board ofEducation working in conformity with the action of the GeneralAssembly has approved the work of the University Summer Schooland authorized the granting of certificates of the normal secondarygrade, the holding of state examinations, and the approval of at-tendance upon its courses as satisfying renewal requirements. It is,in short, a regular part of the state system of public education. The main work of the University Summer School is to serve theinterests of public education in Georgia. Its work will, therefore,be chiefly concerned in meeting the needs of teachers in Georgia,whether primary, elementary, high school, supervisory or speci
