DAHLIA SOCIETY SHOW. A tremendous amount of enthusiasm is being shown in every section of the country in the American Dahlia So- ciety, which was formed in New York city last May by Richard Vincent, Jr., ex-president of the Society of Amer- ican Florists, and other dahlia lovers. Over 100 have joined as charter mem- bers, and there is every prospect of this number being increased to 250 be- fore the annual meeting. The annual meeting will be held dar- ing the first show of the organization, September 24 to 26, at the Museum of Natural History, New York city. It is expected to be the largest dahlia show ever held in the United States. The expectations are that over $.300 will be offered in prizes. Copies of the preliminary schedule have been issued, and may be obtained by writing to either George V. Nash, secretary of the Horticultural Society of Now York, Bronx park, or Joseph J. Lane, secretary of the American Dahlia Society, 11 West Thirty-second street, New York city. To promote interest in this show, the executive board at its last meeting authorized the secretary to prepare 2,500 double post cards, to be sent out through the dahlia dealers in various parts of the country to the large buy- ers of dahlias. All joining before Sep- tember 24 become charter members. The dues are $1 for initiation, $2 fni active membership and .$1 for associ ate membershij). As lias been stated previously. Presi- dent Vincent has offered to supply the dahlia blooms to any retailer who will enter into competition for the various prizes offered for dahlias in decorations. ,fohn Young
