Monument of King Louis XVI of France, Giuseppe Barberi, Italian, 1746–1809, Pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash on lined off-white laid paper, Intended for the same place as 1938-88-1292. Below is a pedestal, whose front is in the main part decorated with an escutcheon in front of a trophy of weapons, and which is covered by a fringed cloth, which is held up by two putti. Above stands a sarcophagus, whose body has the shape of a trapezium, with a relief framed by mouldings. Upon the cover sit two female allegories and support a medallion with a bust portrait, and a crown on top.
