Aboutone inch of fine cut, dry straw should first beplaced in the bottom of the case and covered witha stiff paper or card-board ; then put in the fillersand eggs. It is best to arrange the depth ofpacking at the bottom, so that when the case isfilled there shall be a slight space between thetop filler and the cover ; then put a stiff paper orcard-board over the top filler, and over this asmuch fine cut, dry straw or excelsior as can beput in without requiring too much pressure tofasten the cover on.
