BARNES, Mark, president of theFrench Mission from 1858 to 1859,was an Elder from England who wasrecommended by Edward Bunker July10, 1855, to serve as president of theFrench Mission. Elder Bunker saidof Mark Barnes that he was agood, faithful Elder, who had beenin the missionary field a long accompanied William Budge tothe Isle of Jersey June 9, 1858, toact as president. On Jan, 1, 1859,he reported the French Mission at aconference held in Birmingham, Eng-land, and on Jan, 22, 1859, accordingto the Millennial Star, he was con-tinued as px-esident of the FrenchMission. After acting as pi-esidentof the Dorsetshire Conference in Eng-land from Aug. 10, 1861, he sailedfrom Liverpool May 6, 1862, as sec-ond counselor to Pres. John D. in charge of a companyof Saints.
