The Ukrainian military has repeatedly spoken about torture, beatings and violence in Russian captivity - no official reaction of the Russian authorities to this is known. Ukraine, unlike Russia, has granted the UN access to the POWs and also launched an investigation into the ill-treatment of the detected cases. Most Russian POWs are held in Ukraine in special camps visited by representatives of international human rights organisations.
