A wide open and uninterrupted stretch of beach at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach was originally called Seashore State Park before the name was changed in 1997. The name First Landing State Park commemorates the 1607 original landing of the Virginia Company on Cape Henry. The English company relocated settlers here before they moved inland and settled the Jamestown Colony, the first permanent English settlement in North America. First Landing State Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features 2,888 acres of coastline and marshland that include camping areas and hiking trails.
