The Sohmer Piano Building, with its gilded rooftop dome, dates to 1898. It now houses publishing and design companies. The triangular Flat Iron Building, on a block of land formed by 5th Avenue, Broadway and East 22nd Street, was completed in 1902, when it was one of New York's tallest buildings. It has 22 floors and is 285 feet (87m) tall. It was declared a New York City Landmark in 1966 and National Historic Landmark in 1989.
