Famine in Sudan and Ethiopia 1984-1985 Starving Refugees fleeing the war in neighbouring Ethiopia and Tigre Province arrive at the Takalabab ( alt spelling: Tekalubab ) reception camp set up by Médecins Sans Frontières just inside Sudan border near Kassala. Many famine victims died upon arrival from starvation and wounds after being shelled and straffed by the Ethiopian airforce.
