It appears that these granule - filled bodies break up into a large number of parts each containing one gran- ule; these become * elongated, and finally appear as distinct rods containing the gran- ule at one end. In this condition they are identical with the parasites which occur in the red blood cor- puscles (Fig. 56C) and indicate the manner in which the corpus- cular parasites arise. Dr. Strong and his colleagues believe Bartonella bacilli^ for mis to be a pro- tozoan probably re- lated to the group of parasites known as the Piroplasmata, including the Texas fever parasite of cattle and a number of other disease-causing parasites of wild and domestic animals. Its exact classification cannot yet be determined, and.
