The company affords protec-tion to that district lying between theCounty line and St. Marys College, andwas organized for that purpose on April6, 1896. The original members of the com-pany were: foreman, R. T. Browne;engineer, James Mason; driver, JohnAllen; stoker, James Farley; hosemen,Wm. Murphy, Frank McDonnell, JohnMcKean, Jno. McConville, John Con-neft, Walter Conroy, Hdw. Church andMr. JOHN R. THOMPSON John R. Thompson, hoseman of EngineNo. 32, was born in Philadelphia Sep-tember 11, 1844, arrived in San Fran-cisco October 6, 1864, and joined theDepartment February 14, 1883. SAN FRANCISCO FIREMEN The house is entirely new and in everyway suited to the requirements of thecompany. It has a second-class Amos-keag engine, and a Graves hose wagonwhich carries looo feet of 2^ inch as it is in such a sparsely popu-lated neighborhood, the company natur-ally has not much of a fire record, butwhenever it has been called out it hasalways performed its duties faithfullyand well. The Captain of the company,R. T. Browne, is probably the oldest
