Onewas killed on Big Sable Light, Lake Superior, May 18, 1891. The south-ward movement in autumn doubtless begins in September, but is mostmarked during Octol)er, and the last do not leave the state until the firstof Novem])er or even later. Althougli an al)undant migrant throughout the entire state it does notnest in the southern counties nor, with rare exceptions, in any countiessouth of the Saginaw-Grand Valley. There are several reports of nestsfound in the southern part of the state, but in most cases these doubtlesswere nests of the Veerv- Dr. Gibbs and Mr. W. A. Gunn secuiod a nest. Plate LXX. There is a nest and three eggs in the AgriculturalCollege collection taken by Gunn and Gibbs, marked Ottawa county,May 31, 1879, possibly the same nest. Dr. Gibbs found the species inMontcalm county, near Howard City, where he took a nest June 10, 1882and was satisfied that they nested in abundance. Dr. R. H. Wolcottfound it common at Charlevoix in dense pine woods where it was un-doubtedly breeding. The writer found it nesting in Emmet county inthe summer of 1904, and it was abundant and in full song on the BeaverIslands, Lake Michigan, in July of the same year. S.
