Mahogany red flowers of French marigold, Tagete patula

The mahogany red flowers with a yellow eye of French marigold, Tagetes patula, are a firm favourite with British gardeners for summer bedding, patio pots, hanging baskets etc. With their aromatic flowers and foilage, they are also often used as a companion plant in greenhouses to ward off greenfly, whitefly etc from adjacent plants, but they are not effective repellents for red spider mite.
