Figures from Antony Gormley's exhibition "Critical Mass" at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex
"Critical Mass" is one of the best known works by Antony Gormley. The exhibit consists of 60 cast iron body forms. The casts are from 12 moulds from the artist's own body. The figures are either in a low crouch, squatting, sitting, kneeling or standing. The work was originally made and exhibited in a huge railway terminus in Austria, consciously connecting it to the victims of the Jewish holocaust. The roof of the iconic De La Warr pavilion provided a magnificent setting for the works.
