A great egret stands in marsh grass in the Davis Bayou Area of Gulf Islands National Seashore, May 1, 2021, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The great egret is a large white heron frequently found in coastal areas. It is the official symbol of the National Audubon Society. The Gulf Islands National Seashore is located along the barrier islands of Florida and Mississippi. Protected regions include mainland areas and parts of seven islands.
