View NNE of the partly ruined & exposed passage of Knock Ullinish Iron Age earth house, Isle of Skye, Scotland; UK. The passage ran for about 9m SE-NW, the still covered stretch is some 4m long, the original funnel-shaped entrance at the S is visible bottom R. Used in the Iron Age & Roman periods, possibly as a cool store, the earth house sits in rocky moorland amongst the remains of a post-medieval settlement of 250-100 years ago whose inhabitants probably also used it as a cellar for dairy produce & other perishable goods.
