General Sir Henry Havelock
Henry Havelock was born in 1795 and served in the British Army in India notably at the time of the Indian Mutiny (1857). Earlier he had served in Afghanistan during the First Afghan War and in Persian campaigns. He led the army for the relief of Cawnpore and the relief of Lucknow in 1857. He died of disease in India in 1857 just as he was promoted to Major General and created a Baronet. There is a statue of General Havelock in Trafalgar Square.
