The numbers pursuingone or more of the elective courses in the various depart-ments are commensurate with the recognized value ofthe subject and with the equipment for its teaching. The department of Physics and Electrical Engineer-ing is especially to be spoken of in this article. If youare unacquainted with this work in Ohio University be suprised to know how much is done and how wellit is done. To indicate a few conditions you will find here, thefollowing may be mentioned:Laboratories. A large one for Elementary Physics and Electricity, another laboratory for advanced Physics, a room of thesame size for an electrical laboratory, a photometry room, photographic room, a dynamo, and transformer laboratory,a boiler room, engine and dynamoroom; these are in addi-tion to the draughting-room, the recitation rooms, offices, and the shop. In all of these the students have the ad-vantage of practical training in the various branches ofsteam and electrical engineering work. The laboratoriescontain the necessary instruments for physical and elec-trical measurements; the shop, the required tools andmachines for all kinds of lig
