Works and engineers drawings. Many workers retired from the railways when the Mail Rail was closed and so left many of their work belongings and everyday rubbish behind in the main depot area close to Mount Pleasant. The Post Office Underground Railway Ð Mail Rail Ð silently and industriously ran for miles under the streets of London largely unnoticed for more than three quarters of a century.
