Mammoth Hot Springs is a large area travertine formations in Yellowstone National Park. The springs themselves are fed from the Norris Geyser Basin via an underground fault. The average temperature of the water in these springs are 170 degrees Fareinheit. Over two tons of calcium carbonate are deposted at the springs each day allowing the buildup of the terraces. This particular spring became active again in 2009, and has started building a impressive set of terraces.
