The new cars are longer by one window than cars havingthe same seating plan shipped ; the platforms arealso a trifle longer. The cars measure 30 ft. 8 ins. over theend panels and 41 ft. i in. over the vestibules; other dimen-sions are standard and the bottom framing is also the standard found in this type of construction. Xo doors areprovided at the entrances, the Brill folding gate being util-ized. The car bodies are mounted on the Brill No. 21-E. The American Car Company, of St. Louis, included in itsshipments of last month six i8-ft. closed cars for the QuincyHorse Railway & Carrying Company, which operates anelectric road in Quincy, III. The accompanying engravingshows one of the new cars in operation on the streets ofQuincy. It will be seen that the new cars have onlyone entrance on each side, the passenger entering the carthrough a door of the familiar Brill Accelerator quartered oak forms the finish of the cars and theseats are arranged longitudinally. The builders have usedtheir own type of sand box, and the angle-iron bumpers,signal bells and alarm gongs are of the Brill manufacture.
