The decoration of this ewer is in low relief. Under the lip—notshown in the illustration—is a clever and spirited mask. The body ofthe vase is divided into three compartments by horizontal bands, of whichthe upper is filled with winged horses and heads within circles. Themiddle has three oval cartouches; in each is a female figure, one with ananchor, another with children, and the third standing. The lowest borderhas grotesque figures sitting or squatting, with wings. The handle has a female figure carv
