View NE of the Victoria Incline, stepped galleries (ponciau) & slate waste tips of the Dinorwic Quarries, Llanberis, Wales, UK, run by the Dinorwic Quarry Company from 1809-1969. Australia Mill slate cutting shed is on the upper level. Slate was moved from the working levels down to the lakeside railway using table inclines with wagons on twin rail tracks controlled by roller houses: as loaded wagons descended, their weight pulled empty wagons back up to the winch house. The terraced hillside between Elidir Fawr & Llyn Peris is private land owned by the First Hydro Company. The Dinorwig Slate Quarry Mountain Landscape is part of The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales which became the UK's 32nd UNESCO World Heritage Site on 28 July 2021.
