After obtaining a rudimentary education in thecommon schools Mr. Winn prepared himself for theprofession of teaohing, which he followed in Chris-tian County, this State, for several years. Care-full3 hoarding his means, lie accumulated enoughto begin a course in college, whence he went toKansas in 1878, to return to this State a few monthslater and resume teaching in lUiopolis. He con-tinued to labor in that profession until about themiddle of the last decade, when he began readingmedicine.
