US maize geneticists. From right to left: Donald Forsha Jones (1890-1963), Marcus Morton Rhoades (1903-1991) and Willard Ralph Singleton (1900-1982). All three specialised in research on the genetics of maize (Zea mays, known as 'corn' in the USA). Jones was editor of the journal 'Genetics' from 1926 to 1935. Rhoades was editor of the same journal from 1940 to 1946.
