Laid out many years ago as a camp meeting site, Ocean Cityhas long since passed beyond the ideas of its founders, althoughretaining much that was good in the thoughts of those whohoped to make here a summering place that would be free fromthe influence of mere worldly pleasure. One of the notable features of its life has been the entireabsence of saloons and the liquor influence, and its rapid stridesin popularity have been due to the flocking thither of those whodesired a summer home combining seashore life on beach andwater; the finest surf bathing; large semi-enclosed sailing,motoring and fishing grounds, and every feature of Boardwalklife except the cafes.
