Newton Ferris Noss Mayo Devon South Coast England UK
The Yealm (Yam) is a stunning estuary with wooded hills sloping down to the water where the branches dip into the water as the tide rises. The geography of the estuary mouth offers excellent shelter for waterbourne activities and you will be able to see sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and fishing - from the jetties, the children can enjoy crabbing. Noss Mayo on the southern bank and Newton Ferres on the northern bank are among the most popular scenes depicted by artists. The village boasts two excellent pubs: the Old Ship Inn and The Swan. Both have: terraces where visitors can enjoy the waterside activities; bar snacks and restaurants that have an enviable reputation; traditional atomospheres and ales. The villages have a ferry which operates over a triangular route in order to cater for the SW Coastal Path, the village of Noss Mayo, and Newton Ferrers. The village has the Coastal Path on three sides and therefore offers an unrivalled choice of walks. The renown walk, "The Drive", can be started from one of three locations
