By this arrangement theweight of the doors and the load is at twice as many points aswould be the case it the links were directly connected to the over the rack and pinion and acting both as guide andstop to the former is a case of malleable iron bolted to the sills ofthe car. The head stocks and tail stocks are not coredOlt at all, but are solid. The spindles are of the best hammeredsteel, accurately ground, and they run in phosphor bronze bear-ings. The reverse and cone gear are cut out of solid steel. Thecarriage is gibbed front and back and has extra laree bearings itsentire length, and is arranged for side facing. All sliding parts areaccurately scraped to a bearing.
