This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product ESA astronaut on Mir Space Station. ESA and German astronaut Thomas Reiter (born 1958) on board Mir, the Russian space station, during the Euromir 95 mission (3 September 1995 - 29 February 1996). Here, he is performing a biomechanical experiment. During the course of the mission, Reiter carried out some 40 experiments, and also helped the Russian crew of two to maintain the space station. Reiter also performed the first spacewalk by an ESA astronaut.
