Blue plaque commemorating Rachel and Margaret McMillan, Bromley, England

Margaret McMillan was born in 1860 at Westchester New York and died at Harrow in 1931. She was a Christian Socialist and member of the Fabian Society. With her sister, a teacher of hygiene, she agitated for reforms to improve young children's health and wrote several books on Nursery education, pioneering a play centred approach. Blue plaques are erected to recognise those citizens who have contributed to the world around them.
