To those who wish further information, and after having subdued and rendered the animal perfectly docile and easy to handle, the following is an outline of study which is hoped w^ill be beneficial, although not perhaps wholly instructive, to those whose aim is to delve more deeply into this question. There is nothing more pleasurable than to have a horse who will change his gait at the gentle touch of his master and is the acme of comfort for both man and animal. He is so far removed from the ordinary square trotter as to cause one to pause and consider why the perfect gaited horse is not more universally used; the satisfaction and pleasure, coupled with general utility and traveling capacity, makes him PAGE 40.
