Amsterdam Magere Brug or Skinny Bridge a famous city landmark and an important link in a busy east west cross town cycle route

Amsterdam historic and iconic Magere Brug or Skinny Bridge on the river Amstel. This famous wooden bascule drawbridge is very much a functioning bridge, though since 2003 only cyclists and pedestrians are allowed to use it. The original very narrow one (hence the name) was built in 1691, since then there have been many renovations and modernizations, including two complete rebuilds in 1871 and 1934 each making it wider.
