INTRODUCTORY WHEN war was declared by the United Statesagainst the Imperial Government of Germanyafter many overt acts that had aroused the ire of everypatriotic American, Camden entered into the preparationmade throughout the country to administer the decisiveblow against the enemy with a spirit that evidenced itsthorough sincerity in the great cause of civilization. Menand women in all walks of life not only volunteered theirservices for whatever work that might be assigned tothem, but were so insistent in being accepted that those incharge of the various phases of the war program hadgreat difficulty in making selections. As time went onthere was real work for everyone and it may be statedthere were no shirkers in Camden city or county.
