I have found working from the footof the bed the best plan, as it is easier to reach it than the headof the bed, which is often against the wall. The patient is alsomuch less disturbed in the first part of the preparation, when oneworks about the feet. In this case the steps are as follows: Fig. 48. (2) Fold the clean sheet crosswise instead of lengthwise asbefore, and tuck it in at the foot of the bed. Be sure to leaveenough length to reach well to the head of the bed. (3) Lift the feet and push up both sheets; then lift the legs andwork the sheets farther upward. If the patient is strong enough,bend her knees and let her help raise her buttocks.
