On the pro-montory are inscriptions and sculptures engravedby the conquerors of Syria, from Egypt, Assyria,Macedonia and France ; and above, far away in thedistant sky, the peaks of Lebanon ai-e seen, whitenedwith eternal snows. The mouth of the Kadisha is thirty-five milesnorth of the mouth of the Nahr-el-Kelb, and here isan ancient port, also the ruins of ancient town of Tripolis is a short distance up the river.
