The Brijuni Islands are a in the Adriatic Sea, off the coast of Istria. Today they're a Croatian National Park and holiday resort, but they have remnants from every period of history including dinosaur footprints, Roman and Byzantine ruins, a quarry from which stone was taken for building Venice, 19th century buildings, and an abandoned zoo that once held animals gifted to Yugoslavian President Josip Broz Tito.
