Instructions have often been given, to give a car lightrepairs, when it really required better attention, with nothingmore in view than to place the car in service a few days in advance of its allotted time. It might last only about sixmonths, whereas had this work been left to the foremanpainter and handled properly, the car could have remainedin service from 14 to 18 months. Work of this characteronly reflects upon the ability of the master painter. DISCUSSION It was decided by a vote of the convention that it was theconsensus of opinion of the members that the master paintershould have charge of deciding what class of repairs is neces-sary for passenger cars.
