City of Spello, Umbria, Italy. Of Roman origin, Porta Venere is so called because near Venus Temple. The white stones stands out against a blue sky.


The door, made of white travertine and decorated with Doric pilasters, is characterized by three arched openings (fornici), from the period of the reign of Emperor Octavian Augustus (27 BC-14 BC), between two powerful dodecagonal Romanesque towers, on tall square supports.
