A protester dressed as a Polish soldier holds a placard that says Decalogue over Great Britain during the of the Crusade of the Young (Krucjata Mlodych) organization gathered for the Public Rosary in defense of Mr. Slawek's life at the British Embassy. Mr. Slawomir R. was admitted at the Derriford Hospital in Plymouth in the first days of November after suffering a heart attack. A few days later, hospital authorities decided to use his organs for transplantation. The wife and children agreed to disconnect the patient from the drip. The decision was opposed by a mother and 2 sisters living in Poland. The hospital authorities believe that the patient is in a vegetative state and cannot be saved. The double intervention at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg did not help. The British court also did not agree to transport Mr. Slawomir to Poland. Polish consular authorities intervened many times in this matter. A specialist clinic in Poland called "Budzik" (Alarm Clock) said it is ready to admit and treat a Pole who is at the centre of a life-support dispute in Britain. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zbigniew Rau, decided to grant the Pole diplomatic status. He promised to take all actions to help as soon as possible and bring Slawomir R. to Poland.
