On the afternoon of the first day, January 11, there will be a theatre party and in the even- ing the fair sex will attend the supper-dance. On Thursday noon the ladies' committee will entertain the wives and daughters of the visit- ing lumbermen to a luncheon at the King Edward Hotel. This will be followed either by a bridge party or a motor drive, depending upon the weather. In the evening the ladies will be guests at the banquet and join in the festivities of an occasion which is ahvays outstanding and enjoyable. Advantages of Aeroplane Forest Patrol When the forest lookout goes blind, that is when the pall of smoke prevents the lookout man on tower or mountain peak from seeing where the fire is, then comes in the opportunity of the aeroplane ob- server. This was proved during the past summer in the Dominion forestry branch work centering at Kamloops, At a period when a smoke pall hid the more distant points from the lookout stations the aeroplane observer was able to fly over the smoke screen and get a good view of the whole district. He was able to inform headquarters of all incipient fires and thus to secure their extinguishment before they had reached dangerous proportions.
