Owl staring into the photographer's soul UK A SNAPPER was left dumbfounded when a passing owl would not stop staring him out during its flypasts. Captured on December 9th, this Short-eared owl had a mottled brown body, pale under-wings and yellow eyes. During winters, these owls migrate from continental regions (from Scandinavia, Russia, and Iceland) to northern, eastern, and parts of central southern England, especially around the coast. British wildlife photographer Lee Tilley (47) took These images in Staines-upon-Thames, a market town in northwest Surrey. ?Short-eared owls are a migrant to the southern UK as our native ones stay up north and only come south in around Oct to march along with the migrant birds,? he said. ?They have taken up residence at my local birding patch, Staines Moor, near Heathrow, for the winter, but they could move on at any time. ?I always feel amazing watching owls. They are almost mythical in the way they fly silently and hunt so fiercely.
